I love to serve my delicious lemonade bread for afternoon tea, for a special birthday, or brunch.
My lemonade bread is also fantastic to take when you are invited to a party or potluck dinner.
The dough is yeast-based so you have to count in some extra time for proofing the dough. Trust me though, this bread is worth the extra time.
You will be glad to hear that the bread will keep fresh for a few days.
Extra tip: this recipe makes 2 loaves of bread. You can freeze one loaf and take it out if you needed. Simply warm it up in the oven for a few minutes.
I do love the process of plaiting the dough strands. And no, it doesnโt have to look perfect.
You can watch my video here if you would like to know exactly how to plait the bread.
Just have fun with it and get the kids or grandkids involved.
Baking together is such a wonderful way of creating something that everyone will enjoy.
Here is another tip: before you put the lemonade bread into the hot oven, let it rest for around 30 minutes. Also, do not skip the step of brushing the dough with the egg wash.
It will give the bread a nice and glossy golden brown color.
My favorite part is, besides eating the bread, of course, to smell the freshly baked bread.
It takes me right back to my childhood when my grandma and my mum used to bake all sorts of cakes and different types of breads. Check out this recipe for example.
So, make yourself a nice cup of joe, grab some butter and jam, and cut yourself a thick slice of this amazing bread made with lemonade.
