Mix the baking powder into the flour and combine well. Add the ground almonds and the brown sugar.
1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup ground almonds, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tsp baking powder
If the sugar has lumps, break them up with your fingertips or a butter knife.
Add the butter cubes and rub them in with your fingertips until the mix resembles crumbles.
100 grams cold butter (cut into cubes)
Stir the egg into the milk and then add the egg/milk liquid gradually to the crumbles. Mix everything together with a knife until well combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Take the baking dish with the compote out of the oven and place on your benchtop. Use a large spoon or spatula and spread the batter on top of the fruit compote until most of it is covered.
Put the dish back into the oven and bake for a further 30 minutes.
Enjoy while still warm with some ice cream on the side.
