The Sponge Batter
Add butter and sugar to a mixing bowl. Use an electric hand mixer and mix until fluffy. [you can also use a wooden spoon and do it by hand]Now and again scrape down the sides with a spatula.
200 grams soft butter, 3/4 cup brown sugar
Add the vanilla essence plus the eggs, one at a time. Each time, mix everything in until well combined.
1 tsp vanilla essence, 2 eggs
Add the baking powder to the flour and gradually sieve it into the batter. Use a spatula to fold it in.
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 tsp baking powder
Now it is time to add the milk as well.Continue the process until you have used up all the milk and flour.
3/4 cup milk
Take the baking pan out of the oven, and spread the sponge batter on top of the stewed apples, so they are covered with the batter.
Put it back into the oven and let it bake for 30 minutes or until the sponge looks golden brown. Guten Appetit! Enjoy!
