Ingredients

Feijoas
Feijoas are the star of the dish.
You can use either fresh or frozen Feijoas, but if you’re using frozen ones, please defrost them first.
Instead of Feijoas, you can use any fruit you like, such as apples, plums, or peaches. My crumble recipe works with any fruit.
Sugar
For my Feijoa crumble recipe, I use brown sugar. It gives the crumbles a nice caramel flavor.
It perfectly complements the fruity tartness of the Feijoa and results in a beautifully golden and crispy topping.
Flour
I use self-raising flour. If you don’t have self-raising flour, you can simply add 1 teaspoon of baking powder to 1 cup of plain flour.
Butter
Always use the highest quality butter available; there is no substitute for butter.
Make The Feijoa Crumble In A Few Simple Steps
Prepare The Feijoas

Cut the Feijoas in half and scoop out the pulp with a spoon.
Put the pulp straight into the baking dish.

We are stewing the Feijoas in the oven. That way, you save on dishes, and the process is so much simpler.
While you are prepping the Feijoas, preheat the oven to 350 F/180 C (fan-forced setting).

The Feijoas are going into the hot oven where they stew until hot and bubbly.
While the fruit is stewing in the oven, there is enough time to get the crumble mix ready.
Make The Crumble Mix

Add the butter, sugar, and flour to a bowl and mix them thoroughly with your fingertips.
It is very simple to make but so delicious.
Putting The Feijoa Crumble Together

Once the Feijoas are nicely stewed, remove the baking dish from the oven.
Mix in some cornflour to thicken the fruit stew..

Now, we can sprinkle over the crumble mix.
Put the baking dish back into the oven and bake until the crumbles are golden brown.
Enjoy!

It smells delicious. Let the Feijoa crumble cool down for a bit before serving it.
We love our Feijoa crumble with some cream and maybe even a scoop of ice cream on the side.
Pro Tip
You can prepare the crumble mixture ahead of time and store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
