Ingredients

The dough

  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp yeast
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp yogurt I recommend Greek yogurt

The topping

  • 100 grams soft butter
  • 1 bunch coriander finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic

Instructions

The dough

  • First off, mix the water, sugar, and yeast in a measuring cup.
1 cup lukewarm water, 1 tsp yeast, 1 tsp sugar
  • Let it set for a few minutes until you can see foam on the surface.
  • In the meantime, put the flour into a big bowl.
    3 cups all-purpose flour
  • Add the salt and baking powder and stir it in.
2 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp salt
  • Now add the yogurt and mix it in as well.
    3 tbsp yogurt
  • Gradually add the yeast/water mixture until well combined.
  • Use your hands to bring the dough together.
  • Put the dough onto a floured work bench and knead for around 2 minutes. If the dough is too sticky add a little bit more flour.
  • Now put the dough back into the bowl, cover, and let it proof for around 1 1/2 hours in a warm place.
  • Once the dough is ready, tip it onto a floured work bench and form it into a long roll.
  • Cut the dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a small ball.
  • Cover the dough balls with a clean towel and let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes.

Make the topping

  • While the dough is resting, put all the ingredients for the topping into a small bowl and mix with a fork until well combined.
100 grams soft butter, 1 bunch coriander, 2 cloves garlic

How to make the Naan bread

  • After the resting time, roll each dough ball out into a thin oval shape (the size of your cast iron griddle). It is best to do it with a rolling pin.
  • Heat up the griddle (no oil needed) and fry the Naan bread one at a time. Check after around 2 minutes if the dough starts to brown.
Flip it over and cook on the other side. Press the dough down either with a fork or a spatula while you're cooking the bread. Note: cook on medium heat
  • Once the bread is cooked, take it out of the griddle and spread the topping on. Wrap the bread in tin foil to keep it warm.
  • Proceed with the rest of the dough balls until finished.
